• It has a beautiful aroma. It is used in baked goods, and can also be a part of meat dishes, stew, etc.
• Mace is the lacy covering of the nutmeg seed but differs in flavor by being subtly pungent and spicier.
• In India, mace is commonly known as Javitri. Mace visually looks more like a covering of a seed similar to a net.
• Mace is added to sweet puddings, muffins, cakes and breads to impart its flavor.
• Mace is naturally protected from environmental toxins and pesticides as it is enveloped by a layer of fruit around it. Our Ernakulam mace is locally grown and is delicately handpicked and usually sun dried with utmost care. Due to monsoon rain in Kerala, the current batch of Mace is oven-dried.
• Mace contains a variety of nutrients such as copper, vitamin B6, calcium and dietary fibers. A tea made from a mixture of nutmeg mace and cream is often prescribed by doctors in improving digestive health and relieves indigestion and stomach ulcers.
